Fortnite is on the cusp of launching its highly awaited Chapter 6 following a Juice WRLD concert tomorrow. The game is now in full swing with promotions, including a new cinematic trailer and a separate gameplay trailer.
Unveiling Fortnite's Japanese-Inspired Chapter 6
Japanese-Themed Landmarks and Battle Pass
The trailer showcases a very Japanese-themed chapter filled with landmarks representing different eras of the country. The battle pass is packed with ninja, samurai, and "Oni" demons. A notable aspect is a 2v2 battle between these groups, featuring a hulking demonic samurai that appears to be a map boss. This chapter and season are characterized by a large number of giant world boss entities. Some can be fought, while others are part of the landscape, like a giant turtle with a POI on its back. Notably, a giant version of Godzilla roams the map and seems to be a permanent fixture rather than a specific event. There are also leaks suggesting King Kong may make an appearance later.Future Collaborations and Map Details
Looking ahead, there is a large-scale collaboration with Demon Slayer planned. This will add new demon-fight events to the map and elemental powered masks for players to find and use. However, this isn't shown in the current trailers. One wonders if the entire chapter is truly Japanese themed or just this season. The map seems to be designed from the ground up to represent different eras of Japan, rather than just a few replaceable POIs. Will the giant turtle and Mt. Fuji be gone? The second-minute-long gameplay trailer reveals the new map and combat in action. It features other skins like armored Baymax from Big Hero 6 and a fight against a disembodied demon. The entire map appears to be an extensive expansion, suggesting it will be an entirely Japanese-adjacent chapter, which will be exciting to witness unfold.Players will be able to experience all this when Chapter 6 season 1 launches on Sunday, December 1.Follow me on Twitter, YouTube, Bluesky and Instagram.Pick up my sci-fi novels the Herokiller series and The Earthborn Trilogy.
